Do you know that you can convert your videos from ” .mov ” to ” .mp4 ” format in Google Photo?
I have done it and here let me show you step by step, how I convert my videos from ” .mov ” to ” .mp4 ” format.
I have added 5 new Steps because of some layout changes have been made in Google Photo App, so please read the following notes:
- You need to download GOOGLE PHOTO APP in your device because option ” NEW MOVIE “ is available only in GOOGLE PHOTO APP.
- If you have latest version of Google Photo App ” VERSION 5.0 ” or later version then start from steps ” V5.0 STEP 01 “ and follow the steps up to ” V5.0 STEP 05 “ then continue from old version steps ” STEP 4 “.
- These new Version 5.0 ( V5.0 STEPS ) are only to tell you how to get to option ” NEW MOVIE “ in Google Photo App because this is where your videos format will be changed to mp4 format.
- If you have older version of GOOGLE PHOTO APP then skip the steps from ” V5.0 STEP 01 “ to ” V5.0 STEP 05 “ and start from ” STEP 1 “.
V5.0 STEP 01 ( new version 5.0 )
After logged in to your Google Photo App on Photo Page CLICK / TAP on ” LIBRARY “.

V5.0 STEP 02 ( new version 5.0 )
CLICK / TAP on” UTILITIES “.

V5.0 STEP 03 ( new version 5.0 )
On ” UTILITIES ” page ” SCROLL PAGE UP ” to go end of the page.

V5.0 STEP 04 ( new version 5.0 )
End of ” UTILITIES ” page CLICK /TAP on ” MOVIE “

V5.0 STEP 05 ( new version 5.0 )
On the page ” CREATE MOVIE “ CLICK / TAP on ” NEW MOVIE “ then continue follow the steps from ” STEP 4 ” of older version of Google Photo App.

STEP 1 ( older version )
Please Note: IF YOU HAVE LATEST VERSION OF GOOGLE PHOTO APP VERSION 5.0 OR LATER THEN PLEASE IGNORE THIS STEP AND FOLLOW THE STEPS FROM ” V5.0 STEP 01 ” UP TO ” V5.0 STEP 05 “ THEN CONTINUE FROM OLDER VERSION ” STEP 4 “.
I signed in my Google account in Google Photo then click on ” Assistant ” as shown in picture. If you have updated new version of Google Photo App then Click on ” For You “.
STEP 2 ( older version )
Now, on ” Assistant ” or ” For You “screen I clicked on ” Movie “
STEP 3 ( older version )
Then clicked on ” New Movie “.
STEP 4 ( older version ) and ( new version 5.0 or later )
After I clicked on ” New Movie ” in STEP 3, Google Photo opened the gallery of my Photos and Videos which are saved in Google Photo. In this I clicked on the video I have chosen.
STEP 5 ( older version ) and ( new version 5.0 or later )
After I selected the video as in step 4 I clicked on ” Create ” at the top right corner to create the movie of my selected video.
STEP 6 ( older version ) and ( new version 5.0 or later )
Now, it is time to trim the movie. As I wanted full length video which I originally recorded, I have adjusted the full length by dragging the two bars on top right corner as shown in picture STEP 6b.
If there are more than one clip shows on STEP 6a then delete the other clips and keep only the first one. In order to delete other clips CLICK ON THE THREE DOTS ( … ) WHICH IS RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE CLIP THEN CLICK THE ” REMOVE ” OPTION ON THE DROP DOWN MENU. then continue with STEP 6a.
IF ENTIRE VIDEO IS NOT SHOWN:
Recently, I have noticed while I was checking the Google Photo App which I always check in case if any changes to app. There was no changes yet but this is something I did not notice before that after the STEP 6b sometimes the Google Photo does not show entire video. Therefore, I have added couple of more steps how to see entire video which we have originally made it.
Please follow the following steps if you notice that your entire video is not shown, then follow the STEP 6b.
SHOW ENTIRE VIDEO Step 1:
Click on horizontal three dots on top right corner.

SHOW ENTIRE VIDEO Step 2:
Click on SHOW ENTIRE VIDEO on drop down menu.
SHOW ENTIRE VIDEO:
Now entire video is being downloaded. After it is downloaded follow the Step 6b and Step 7.

STEP 7
Finally now, after adjusting the full length of my video/movie I have saved my video as in picture below and VOILA! it is all done. My video has been converted into ” .mp4 “ format and it is ready to embed in my HTML page.
So, here you go now, cheer up! all done. Now you can create your own movies in mp4 and use it anywhere you like and save your video/movie to your photo/video galleries in your devices.
It may seems like too much work and take long time in these steps but, believe me it is done in just few seconds.
If you want to check to make sure that your video/movie saved in mp4 format then click on ” i ” information button at the bottom in the picture below or IF YOU HAVE UPDATED NEW VERSION OF GOOGLE PHOTO APP ” version 5.0 ” OR LATER THEN CLICK /TAP ON THREE DOTS ( … ) WHICH IS ON TOP RIGHT CORNER OF THE SCREEN:
After you clink on ” i ” information button or THREE dots (…) on top corner, it will show informations about your video/movie, as you can see the movie file name with the extention .mp4 at the end in the following picture.
WEll, how about to have some more fun and add some music in your video/movie and make it more interesting ?
